What this is
Is Rogers Pass Open? is a free, single-purpose website that answers one question for Trans-Canada drivers: are the Rogers Pass road conditions currently passing traffic between Revelstoke and Golden, BC — or is Highway 1 closed, delayed, or under avalanche control through Glacier National Park. That's it. No ads, no accounts, no popups.
Where the data comes from
Status comes from DriveBC's public Open511 API, refreshed every 5 minutes. Events are filtered to the Rogers Pass corridor — Highway 1 through Glacier National Park between Revelstoke and Golden — and classified as open, open-with-construction, delayed, avalanche-control, or closed. Driver reports on the homepage are secondary; the official DriveBC status is always the source of truth. Weather comes from Environment Canada's public feed for the pass.
Who runs it
Trans-Canada regulars who got tired of guessing whether Rogers Pass was open during a storm or a Parks Canada avalanche-control window. Run as a community tool, funded out of pocket, no plans to add ads or paid tiers. If it becomes expensive to run, donations may open up — but the core service will stay free.
